Hey there, fellow entrepreneur! So, you've got this awesome business idea and you're ready to take the plunge into the world of entrepreneurship or you’ve started but you want to know how to get to the next level.
Before you dive headfirst into the deep end of whether you should boost your posts, or spend money on facebook ads, let's talk strategy. Because trust me, having a solid plan in place can make all the difference when it comes to making your precious money working as hard as possible for you.
Now, I could throw a bunch of complex jargon at you, but that isn’t sensible for strategy – strategies need to be simple and clear… so let’s stick with that. Let's break down the process of creating a killer business and marketing strategy into five straightforward steps, all centred around one crucial question: Who is your customer?
1. Set a Strategy: You need to know where you are going in order to know when you get there. Think about your ideal - What do you want to achieve in 5yrs, 3yrs, 1yr and how do you want your business to look at that point… Also what do you want your life to look like at that point. Once you have that 1yr vision. What do you need to do in the next 6mths and the next 3mths and the next month to make that happen… There is the start of your strategy.

2. Know Your Customer: So absolutely the most important thing that is going to get you to achieve your strategy is if you know your customer. Take some time to really understand who your ideal customer is. What are their needs, desires, pain points? What keeps them up at night? The better you know your customer, the easier it'll be to tailor your products or services to meet their demands – even better go and have a chat with them. Do you know where they are searching for products like yours. Are they active on social media? Do you they prefer newsletters?
A good test – could you describe them to your friend and they understand who you mean and can think of someone who they know who is like the persona?

3. Know your value: Now that you've got a handle on who your customer is, it's time to figure out what sets you apart from the competition. What value do you bring to the table? Why should customers choose you over anyone else? Your value proposition should be clear, concise, and compelling. It's the hook that reels your customers in.
A good test – can you explain a min or two what you do and why its of value to your customer?

4. Set Goals: Now we're getting into the nitty-gritty. You need to set some goals for your business and marketing efforts, but not just any goals—SMART goals. That stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Instead of saying, "I want to increase sales," get specific. "I want to increase sales by 20% in the next six months." See the difference?
A good test - Are you being realistic? 3-5 goals at any time is enough.
5. Track, Analyze, Adjust: Last but not least, you have got to keep tabs on how your strategy is performing. Track your key metrics, analyse the data, and be prepared to make adjustments as needed. Maybe that Facebook ad campaign isn't performing as well as you'd hoped, so you pivot to Instagram instead. Or perhaps you realise your target audience has shifted, so you tweak your messaging accordingly. The key is to stay agile and adaptable.
And there you have it - five simple steps to creating a killer business and marketing strategy that puts your customer front and centre.
Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither is a successful business. But with a little bit of planning and getting to know your target audience better than your best mate you'll be well on your way to entrepreneurial greatness.
